Stump Grinding

A leftover stump gets in the way, can regrow and can attract pests. Grinding removes it below ground level so you can re-turf, replant or pave over the spot, without the mess and upheaval of digging the entire root ball out. We grind the stump and roots down, then leave you the choice of backfilling with soil or the grindings.

FAQs

Stump Grinding questions

How deep do you grind a stump?

Usually 15 to 30cm below ground level, which is enough to re-turf or replant. We can go deeper where you plan to pave or build.

Can you get the grinder into my back garden?

Often yes. We use machines that fit through standard gateways. We will check access when we quote.

How long does stump grinding take?

Most single stumps are ground out in an hour or two, depending on size and access.

Can I plant where the stump was?

Yes. Once the stump and roots are ground out and backfilled with soil, the spot is ready to re-turf or replant.
